Description:
A well made, solid Plains Percussion rifle with about  a.48 cal., and a 38 1/2” octagon.970" heavy barrel with a fair oxidized bore showing pitting. The metal surfaces are a dull pewter gunmetal gray patina with an overall smattering of scattered active soft brown oxidation and some light pitting. There is a simple German silver front sight and flattop v-notch rear and there are no evident markings on barrel or back action lock. There is a simple brass nosecap, thimbles, tailpipe, single spur triggerguard, faceted crescent butt with simple toeplate and pendulum style patchbox. The American black walnut stock rates very fine showing much original varnish and the expected dings, scratches and handling marks that come from a hunted arm. It has a nice flared left-sided cheekpiece and coarse checkering at the wrist. The lock is dual acting and the arm is equipped with double set triggers and functions properly, a later antique ramrod is included with its nose broken off. A very New York State-looking fullstock rifle that was well-built and remains very attractive. Overall lemngth is about 55 1/4" long. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
