Description:
Among the most desirable to hunters is the 99F, lightweight version of the wonderfully designed Savage 99's in their many iterations.
Lever Boss (M) indicates 1961 date of manufacture.
This quality 99's was made in the old plant in Chicopee Falls Mass incorporates the best of the old features as well as the best of the more modern iterations; it retains the original brass rotor, cocking indicator and cartridge counter on the left side of the receiver but the easier to access and more intuitive upper tang safety, correct factory steel butt plate and correct gold trigger and damacented (engine turned) bolt
Wood and metal retaiin approx 80% of the original finish.
Those who are familiar with 99's are aware that many were inclined to crack the butt stock at the upper tang. This one has a stock from a later (approx 1965) gun, more than likley replaced at one time for that reason. The factory hand checkered forend is correct and original.
No non factory holes in metal and only the butt stock has had a sling swivel stud installed.
Not in collector condition but reflecting care and honest hunting use since it left Savage approx 60 yrs ago.
The bore is perfect.
It has Weaver 2 pc scope base in correct factory holes.
