Description:
Extraordinary example of the famous forerunner to the Winchester Model 70. This amazing rifle is completely original and untouched and in beautiful 95% condition throughout. With only 50,000 made in all calibers and configurations, the Model 54 is more than 10x as rare as a Pre 64 Model 70! Of those 50,000 I would estimate less than 10% have survived major alteration or outright destruction, and I am probably being very generous with that number. In my experience it is the most butchered of all Winchesters, so to find one in this shape is practically unheard of. This is an early rifle S/N 10484 with matching scribed bolt made in 1927. It features the slender foreend with schnable tip, rust blued barrel of nickel steel, 6W rear sight with one standing and one folding leaf, unaltered bolt handle, and an UNDRILLED rear receiver bridge! All mechanical functions are working flawlessly and as smooth as silk and the bore is excellent. A very nice and significant rifle to be proud of, and one that will not be easily upgraded.
