Payment Types Accepted: AmEx, Discover, Master Card, Visa, Money Order, Certified Check, Personal Check (item held until check cleared) Description: Production of the 1903 Springfield fell dramatically after the first World War, as that was to be "the War to end all Wars", and arming America was no longer a priority. Most collectors consider the 1920-30's Springfields as the finest ever made. The barrel date of April 1921 matches the serial range on this example. The muzzle is not star-gauged, as they did not start marking muzzles as such until 1922 (The Springfield 1903 Rifles, William S. Brophy). The inspector stamp on the left side is "DAL" of David Lyle, who inspected the Model 1903 from 1919 to 1930. All other correct parts include the wide finger-groove double-bolt stock, the 2700-yard rear sight, all milled parts, and the finely-checkered trapdoor buttplate. The metal retains about 95% of the dull blue-black matte finish. The stocks are excellent, dark walnut with usual minor handling marks. The Lyman 48 peep sight is all matching. The DCM paperwork indicates that this rifle was shipped to Philadelphia in 1923 as one of only 743 guns shipped that year. Overall, this is a really nice and very scarce rifle. Hand guns must travel via Air, whilst long guns and other items can go via Ground. Non-firearm accessories, such as magazines, can be shipped via USPS Priority Mail at the customer's request.
