Shortly after the war, many of these were “improved” being converted from percussion to .38 caliber rim fire along with new models being manufactured. The trigger guard is brass and the trigger is niter blue. The two-piece walnut grips are oil finished. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong and mechanically sound. The bore is bright with nice rifling. Both grips have seen their fair share of use as they show their age through wear. The number on the barrel is 42720. Here is a great example of an early-post-Civil War “cowboy” 6-shooter from Remington! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches.
