Description:
This Smith & Wesson Model 57 is an exceptional all-original gun with all of the most desirable features.  Manufactured in 1980, this Model 57 is a no-dash gun with a pinned 4" inch barrel, a counter-bored 6-shot fluted cylinder, a target hammer, a target trigger, and factory target grips.  This Smith & Wesson looks like it might have had a handful of cartridges fired thru it at the very most since leaving the factory as it is in superb condition, both inside and out.  The beautiful gloss-blue factory finish rates 99%, with the only deduction coming from a VERY faint and incomplete drag-line around the cylinder.  This Model 57 shows ZERO handling marks, wear, scratches, nicks, or marring to the factory finish.  Even the matte blue finish on the sights is 99% plus, like-new.  The bore in the 4" inch pinned barrel is mirror-bright and pristine, and the rifling is still razor-sharp and clean from the forcing cone to the crown of the muzzle.  The six chambers of the fluted cylinder are equally as perfect with no visible imperfections or wear.  All of the factory markings are crisp and clean, and all of the screws in the gun have perfect slots and clean heads.  The factory case colors on the target hammer and trigger are still bright, handsome, and fully intact, rating 99%.  The original factory-checkered Goncalo Alves target grips on this Smith are in superb condition, just like the rest of the gun.  Both grip panels are free from any visible wear, cracks, chips, repairs, or soiling.  The original gloss finish is bright and clear, the checkered panels are still sharp and clean, and the S&W medallions are in like-new condition.  These factory target grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the metal with no wiggle.  The internals of this Model 57 are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior.  This can be seen particularly well in the picture of the rear action star of the cylinder, which shows almost ZERO mechanical wear.  The action on this Smith has to be felt in person to truly be appreciated.  It is extremely smooth and slick, and it is in perfect "time" no matter how it is operated, fast or slow, double or single-action.  The cylinder lock-up is excellent, and the factory-optioned target-style trigger breaks nicely with a light pull with no grittiness or excessive travel, particularly in single-action operation.  This Smith & Wesson Model 57 has not even begun to be "broken-in" yet, and will function 100% like the day it originally left the factory 41 years ago.  If you have been looking for top 2% condition investment-grade Model 57 this 1980-production model would be a superb choice.  It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this beauty in ANY respect!
