Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1984, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 8oz, Chokes Screw-Ins, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 9/16" Serial Number: HD327E Those who admire Winchester products and side x side shotguns recognize the Winchester Model 23 introduced in 1978 and produced by Olin-Kodensha of Japan. The Model 23’s were in production through 1987 and have at least 6 different models including some baby framed .410 guns and a few commemorative guns. They are known to be extremely reliable, strongly built guns made in high-tech factories and of the finest steels. The most interesting and hardest to find Model 23 is the “HEAVY DUCK”, produced in 1984 as a series of only 500 guns total. We all know the harsh environment waterfowlers hang out in, so any Heavy Duck you see will show use and wear and tear. This gun, snHD-327E, the 327th Heavy Duck made, is a very rare example of a M23 in as new condition with 100% blue on all metal and just a few very light handling marks in the wood finish. The blue on all parts is factory original, as is the wood finish. The wood on the gun is at least 2x figure with fiddleback American walnut and not a real scratch in the finish anywhere, just the lightest impressions in a few spots. That is amazing! This is a true collector quality gun that was never used afield. The previous owner used the gun briefly for sporting clays but it did not fit him and so it sat. This is a killer waterfowler shotgun with 30” barrels that have been fitted with Briley screw-in chokes for full versatility, 3” factory chambers, great stock dimensions, and a very reliable single selective trigger for those cold days and gloved hands. This is also a premier Winchester collectible, being 37 years old. Just think what this thing would be worth in 25 years! And it has been fired, so you can shoot this gun without guilt. The Briley screw-in chokes allow for shooting puddle ducks over decoys with IC/M chokes, or pass shooting ducks and geese at 50 yards with the F/F chokes. The gun comes with IC, LM, M, IM, F chokes. She weighs 7 1/2lbs. and balances ¼” in front of the hinge pin the way a waterfowler should. The stock has 14 1/8” LOP to a highly effective Decelerator recoil pad to absorb those heavy loads. Don’t miss this one! Priced to sell, and thanks for looking!
