Description:
This is about as good as it gets for a pre-war 22 cal. model 69 Winchester. The early model 69 had a slim stock with the take down screw expossed, and a straight down swept bolt handle. This predecessor to the model 69A would cock the firing pin when closing the bolt, as opposed to the A model which cocked upon opening. The Target model was built without a midrange dovetail for a sight on the barrel, but rather a dovetail cut ahead of the bolt handle on top of the receiver. This sight package utilizes a Winchester No. 97A front ramp sight, and a No. 96B Winchester peep sight, which is exactly what this rifle has. The 25" barrel has an excellent bore, nearly 100% original blue and displays crisp, clear script and proof marks. The walnut stock has original finish, with a few small dings, and no crasks or repairs. The butt plate is in great shape as well. Getting Quite hard to find in this condition (COLLECTOR QUALITY).
