Description:
Browning Belgium Superposed O/U shotgun. Midas grade made in 1963. Configured as a factory “Skeet” gun with 26 ½” barrels and choked Skeet/Skeet with hand filed vent rib and fitted with front and mid ivory beads. Look closely at the photos and you will note that this Skeet gun is something of a “transition” version: It has New Style Skeet stock dimensions with 14” LOP to the factory butt plate (instead of a recoil pad on a New Style); 1 ½” DAC & 2” DAH with ¼” right hand cast and a flat knob grip. However, it has a long tang trigger guard and the large, more-of-a field style forearm, not the beavertail forearm that was on the New Style Skeet.
Added to this unique configuration is that this gun was engraved by Louis Vrancken who was a Browning Master Engraver from 1946-1977. FYI: It was L Vrancken who actually designed the Midas Grade engraving pattern!!
All finishes are original; the blued parts retaining 98%+ with just the typical forearm rub on the bottom of the barrel. The beautifully grained Walnut stock and forearm are hand rubbed oil finish and if look hard, you may see a small handling mark or two. Otherwise, just the gold on the trigger shows wear and there are initials cut in the stock escutcheon and that’s it. The overall condition is 98%+, excellent. 7 lbs. 4 oz.
