Description:
Very fine Springfield US model 1855 rifle musket. .58 caliber Maynard percussion system US rifle musket. Very fine condition overall. Both barrel tang and lock dated 1858. Metal has been kept in the "white" or bright iron. Long range rear sight. Brass stock cap. Very sharp markings. Maynard priming system works perfectly and still has an original roll of paper percussion caps inside. The bore is very good with clear rifling and could use a good brushing. Fine full length walnut stock. Clear cartouche is visible on left flat. Small inspectors mark just behind the trigger guard. Complete with both original sling swivels and original ram rod. Far above average, a very desirable and sought after firearm.
