"Serial Number 31. Made in 1821. Approximately 65 caliber with a 32 ½" barrel. This is a an extremely rare Jennings flintlock 3 shot repeater. Very few of these are known. Despite this gun being number 31, we would estimate the production would be under 10. Metal has a light gray patina on metal. Barrel is marked “I JENNINGS N YORK No31" These are unusual guns that had three superposed loads sitting on top of one and other. The Flintlock slides back as each load is fired. This gun has a brass frame with a pistol grip. Attached is a wire stock that has a wood check piece. The barrel unscrews either for easier loading, or if you remove both the barrel and the stock, you have a pistol size firearm. The brass, lock and the cheek piece are engraved. Very interesting early repeater!
