Description:
General Specs: Parker, Year 1937, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 5oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 13 7/8"  rear trigger, DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 3/8"
Serial Number: 240704

Some Parkers are made for shooting targets, pigeons, and the like; mostly heavier guns with long barrels.  Then there are the Parker upland guns; light in hand, quick to shoulder, and deadly on the flush.  This fine little Parker is cut of the latter cloth, but with a different flair than the typical field gun, having a Parker single selective trigger and Parker factory beavertail forend.  Parkers remain the "king of the hill" when it comes to American made vintage double shotguns.  When you examine closely the fit and finish on the Parker guns, it is impeccable.  Parker was amongst the best at balancing their guns as well, feeling much lighter in hand than the scale would indicate.  Graded guns like this little DHE 20 ga., sn240704 made in 1937, are especially desirable and have been great investments that continue to gain value as you enjoy their use.  Most would say the DHE is the start of Parker’s “fine gun” line.  At 6lbs. 5oz. and balanced nicely between the hands with its 26" Titanic Steel barrels, you could not ask for a better handling little 20ga., with enough weight for a steady swing yet easy to carry all day over hill and dale.  All parts are original to the gun, except for the Purdey style leather covered pad that we installed.  The gun came to us with a rock-hard pad and likely shipped with a pad from the factory, but the Remington/Parker records don’t mention butt treatment.  With mirror bores, choked M/F, great stock dimensions, excellent screws, no cracks anywhere, this gun is ready for decades of use with no trouble.  THE FACTORY ORIGINAL WOOD HAS THE BEST FIGURE YOU WILL SEE ON A PARKER DHE GUN.  Remington often stocked their Parkers with better-than-grade wood, but this wood is over the top gorgeous.  THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY, the action and forend iron having been stripped to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned, all parts inspected for function and integrity, properly lubricated, and reassembled, ready for another 84 years of service!  One of 1536 DHE 20ga. guns made, only 45 with a single selective trigger, and about 150 with factory beavertail forearm, this is a RARE PARKER.  Please note, most Parkers you see for sale with a beavertail forend DID NOT come from the factory that way but were changed by outside sources along the way.  When a Parker left the factory with a beavertail forend, it had a unique, one-piece reinforced forend lug that was required because of the stress a beavertail forend placed on the normal 2-piece forend lug used with splinter forends.  You can clearly see that special forend lug in the photos, documenting this as an original Parker beavertail forend.  We did restore the original wood and rust blued the barrels, but left the action in its naturally worn grey condition, as the engraving shows well in that state.  If you prefer the action to be newly bone and charcoal case colored by Turnbull restorations, we can have that done within 8 weeks of purchase and with an additional $1000 cost.  You will never see another with better factory wood, and the gun is dynamic in hand.  See the specifications below.  The gun is tight as new and without flaw.  Look the photos over closely and you will see an exceptional Parker at an affordable price.  Thanks for looking!
