Description:
Serial #19976, .450/.455, 7 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has traces of freckling within the grooves at the breech. This is a handsome revolver that has matching serial numbers throughout, including the grip panels, and retains 92-95% of the original bright, lustrous blue finish with numerous minor handling marks, blemishes, and silvered fading along the raised edges and projections. Some specks of mild freckling are also present on the gripstraps. The topstrap has the Webley “'WG' TARGET MODEL" marking with the Webley & Scott “Winged Bullet" on the lower left side of the frame, and a British military “(Broad Arrow) / (crown) / U6 / F" acceptance proof just ahead of the model marking. The hammer, knurled trigger, and cylinder retention stirrup have some traces of mild freckling on the bright metal while the thumb lever has most of the original blue remaining. The checkered walnut grips are in very good shape with numerous minor bruises and handling marks on either panel. The lock-up is still solid and tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This is the only military marked marked WG Target we have ever seen, and it may well be the only one in the United States. This is a lovely example of a desirable WG Target Model, that has an exceptionally high amount of the original finish remaining, and has extremely rare British military markings. It rates fine-excellent overall, and would be a great addition to any collection of fine British firearms. FFL or C&R
