Description:
Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration.

We offer you a “Refinished” Type 3 Remington model 51 semi automatic pistol chambered in .32 ACP – 7.65mm made in July of 1926.

Remington manufactured around 64,796 Model 51’s of which 54,518 were in .380 ACP caliber with only 10,278 being produced in .32 ACP caliber. Which makes the .32 caliber much harder to find since the .32 version didn’t appear until 1921 and at that time was designated “Series of 1921.”  The .32 version was intended primarily for European consumption with one Remington source stating the early .32s were special order only for the U.S. market.
This pistol is a type-3 with 15 slide serrations and the caliber marking being “.32 CAL / 7.65mm” on the barrel. The serial number of “PA91796” dates it from 1926 with the date code of “OT” confirming it was manufactured in July of 1926. Which makes this 51’s one of the last ones made. Some wonder about the prefix “PA” that is found on all model 51’s. It stands for “Pedersen Automatic” since the pistol was designed by John D. Pedersen. This one has the small “anchor” stamped on the right side of the trigger guard which is an inspection stamp. The top of the slide is marked “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. ILION WKS. N.Y. U.S.A. PEDERSEN PATENT/PAT’D. MAR.9 20, AUG.3 20, OCT.12 20, JUNE 14 21 OTHERS PENDING.”
The bluing is in fine condition showing some small spots of pitting and freckling under the finish. Both grip panels are very fine with no cracks or chips. It has a replacement magazine with it and the bore shows light frosting. The pistol has been sitting a very long time and will need cleaned and lubed before use. A very late model 51 that is 95 years old!
