Description:
If you are looking for the best M1D out there, this may be it. In 1996, the Civilian Marksmanship Program offered a few rifles as received from the 1960s rebuild programs. The demand was so great and there were so few of these, they were offered in a lottery system. This one was purchased in 1996 as a Lottery Gun from CMP and is a Toole Rebuild from 1969. It does not appear to have been fired since test firing at Toole. The cardboard rod is still in the barrel. These rifles came complete with all the accessories separately packaged in a large shipping box. The original shipping box and accessories are present. The packages have been opened for inspection. All accessories appear to be as new (in the same condition as the rifle).
Included with the original box and packaging is paperwork from 1996 showing where the proud owner of the time was "selected" in the lottery, original bill of sale, accessory items list, along with some additional papers explaining how to adjust the scope, etc. Lastly, there is a copy of an article from the Summer 2015 Garand Collector's Association Journal entitled "Collecting the M1D Sniper Rifle" and a complete Spring 2016 GCA Journal which includes an article on Toole Rebuilds.
Springfield receiver marked TE 1-69. Barrel is Springfield with a date of 1952. CM marked WRA trigger housing, -9SA safety, -9SA hammer, SA trigger.

Condition is as new. It would be next to impossible to upgrade this set.
This rifle would be a nice addition to any collection.
