Description:
We have a Late 1700s Jaeger rifle that is absolutely stunning.  It has a full length wood stock with relief carvings throughout the stock in line with the best "Golden Age" Kentucky rifles with double set triggers.  The barrel is octoganal with dark rich patina from age.  It has a sliding decorative patch box bordered by fancy brass ends.  The rifle has a brass butt plate, trigger guard, side plate, and thimbles.  The brass butt plate extends midway up the butt stock with a decorative brass eschuchean on the neck.  The barrel is marked with its maker, "A. Trachenberg" with the lock marked "Zirath".  The breech and hammer are both both engraved with the hammer having the very tip chipped.  The full length wood stock has a darkened patina and missing the brass nose piece, but stunning nonetheless.

This is one of my favorite very early rifles in my collection and excudes early rifle-making historic significance.
