Payment Types Accepted: paypal, venmo, cashiers check Description: We have a East India Company Nepalese issued Brown Bess India Model 1796 flintlock with a 39" barrel. This particular Brown Bess was in a discovered cache in Nepal that arrived there before 1820. This cache was a little rough from being neglected so almost all were restocked like this one painted a dark or black color. These flintlock locks were made in England for the East India Company and locks engraved with the Nepalese royal crest once they were issued to the Ghurkas. The barrel has pitting, but the "footprint" proof mark of the East India Company is very clear. It has been restocked from the origninal stock that was deteriorated from neglect in Nepal, and the restock is done very well with the wood being painted black and is in very good condition. The swing swivels are present with brass trigger guard and side plate. The lock functions crisp and mechanically sound. This piece is a brilliant piece of history that can be traced back to a particular shipment and location in time, Nepal. It would be a great addition to any collection, especially British arms or flintlocks. 574 - two four two - 1936 SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: East India Company Barrel Length: 39 Wood Condition: Very Good |
