Description:
Here we have a late 1700s flintlock punt/market gun. It is conceivable that this was once used as a ramparts gun due to its sheer size. The barrel alone is 56.5" long. The overall length is over 6 feet! The massive barrel is an early octoganal transitioning in to rounded barrel with a dark patina from age and no rust or pitting. It has a barrel proof mark of "WPJ" with a 1" bore (4 bore). The lock is engraved "Henry Parker" who was a maker of COmmittee of Safety muskets in Liverpool, PA, in 1775. The wood stock has a rich reddish hue color and is incredible shape for the age. You do not find many original flintlocks in this condition and practically none this size.
This is an amazing period flintlock that would instantly command respect in any collection.
