Description:
This bayonet measures 22" overall with a 17 1/8" single-edged blade with single fullers. The blade retains about 95% of an arsenal applied gray phosphate finish with some faint freckling, as well as minor scabbard marks on either side. The ricasso is marked on the reverse with a faintly visible royal cypher above "1907 / S294 / WSC", and the obverse has numerous broad arrows and a faded English proof. The guard and hilt retain about 80% blue with the balance faded to mottled plum-brown. The walnut grip panels remain in very good condition with only light wear and handling marks. The buff leather scabbard has a black body while the throat and chape retain most of their wartime black finish. This is a fine example of an SMLE bayonet, made by a desirable manufacturer
