Description:
Serial #40956, .30-30, 20 inch round tapered barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is the first model Marlin 1936 Carbine which features a pistol grip stock with fluted comb, crown muzzle, steel butt plate, Ballard type rifling, “SUREGRIP" semi-beavetail forearm, silver bead front sight and flat top Rocky Mountain rear sight. This first series carbine is marked “Marlin Safety" on the top of the receiver and “Marlin / Model 1936" on the tang. The rifle is in very good plus condition with the barrel showing mottled blue and silver gray with scattered nicks and dings from years of use. The frame and lever show trace amounts of muted case-color that is now mostly silver-gray to plum-brown with light freckling and several nicks and scratches. The walnut stock and forearm are solid with numerous old marks and contusions under a later added varnish. An honest, original 1936 carbine that would be a pleasure to take into the woods again.
