Description:
NSN, approximately .54 cal., 30 1/2" octagon barrel with a lightly pitted, smooth bore. This is an attractive American percussion gun that has an overall plum-brown patina on the barrel and non-functional, Golcher lock. The walnut stock has a coarsely checkered wrist, scattered minor handling marks and blemishes, as well as a shallow chip missing from the front of the lockplate. The right side barrel pin escutcheon is missing, but the very nice (and patriotic) eagle inlay and downwards-opening patchbox with concealed latch is in fine shape. The gun has an old, non-original wooden ramrod, and is in good condition overall. It would make a splendid wall decoration for a study or gun room. Antique
