Payment Types Accepted: Check, money order, Stripe, Zelle About Us: We are a small FFL primarily doing research and consulting in the firearms industry, but occasionally receive firearms to sell. Description: Marlin 1889, caliber 38 Winchester, date of manufacture 1894. Mechanically good working condition. All metal and wood finish original and untouched. Metal is clean with no apparent rust. Barrel - Octagonal 24 inches. Caliber .38 Winchester. Full length magazine tube. Steel buttplate. Rear sight is original, but front sight appears to have a new addition. Overall average condition for the age. I'm selling this rifle for an older friend who has owned it for decades. I read that the Model 1889 was Marlin's first side ejection rifle and was a black powder gun, manufactured before smokeless powder wa invented. It should not be fired with modern ammunition. This would be a great Cowboy Action gun. I recommend that all antique firearms be examined by a compentent gunsmith before firing. I'm not an expert on antique rifles, so if I get something wrong here, please send me a note. I'm including a number of photographs to depict an accurate representation of the rifle.
