Description:
SOLD A most interesting and colorful Deringer with about .45 cal., 3” barrel with a heavily oxidized bore. This is an interesting pistol using an original lock and some modern components. The barrel was completely cleaned and marked: “Parish & Farrar”, and is a dull plum brown patina showing tool marks, it has a silver blade front sight. The “Deringer Philad” marked lock is a blue-gray patina with the appropriate engraving, the hammer has been heated and bent to accommodate the very large bolster on the barrel., looks like a rifle bolster? There are German silver fittings which appear to be Henry Deringer’s furniture of the period, but are not of the same quality and may be replacements. The stock is walnut hardwood and stained a walnut tone and very coarsely hand checkered along its rear edges. The shield-shaped monogram plate atop the wrist has been stamped with block letters “JM/96/Regt.”, additionally the right side of the bolster also stamped “JM”. Lock functions although the spring is very light. A most interesting pocket Deringer! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
