SUPERIOR CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE INSPECTED BRITISH TOWER ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 PERCUSSION RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1862. 39” rifled .577 caliber round barrel with British Birmingham commercial proofs at the left breech and inspector’s proof “J*P” seen on confederate inspected Enfield rifle muskets. Original front and rear sights. Original Type 3 ramrod correct for this model. Lock stamped and dated “1862/TOWER” with the Victoria Royal Cypher stamped in front of the hammer. Stock with oval Confederate associated Sinclair, Hamilton Co. “SH/C” inspector’s cartouche clearly stamped on side panel between the lock bolts and on the heal of the butt in front of the butt plate tang. Belly of butt correctly stamped in small block letters “WILLIAMSON BROTHERS” for the Birmingham and London makers. Original ramrod stamped “T & C.G.” for Thomas and Charles Gilbert who were Birmingham small parts makers. Exceptional overall with approximately 90% of the barrel blue and grey-blue case hardening on the lock plate. Stock with all the original finish and perfect inspector’s stamps. Screws and nipple with much original blue. Superb mint bore and perfect working order. All original and in exceptional little used condition.
