Description:
Very cute little 28ga hammer gun by Bayard of Belgium. These guns are seldom found in high original condition as they were very frequently purchased by families of lower means and used hard. This gun, made with splinter forend, double triggers, round knob pistol grip, and lined horn buttplate. False sideplated boxlock action is lightly floral scroll engraved and case hardened. Fluid steel barrels. Housed in a period custom made wooden case which is a "toe under" style case with brass latches. The quality of the case is quite good! This would make a fun and dynamic shooting gun yet it is still collectible in this high state of original condition.
This gun remains in outstanding high original condition with more than 90% deep bold original case color. The stocks are sound and retain most of their original finish with only minor handling marks and light hunting impessions. Bores are bright and shiny and the mechanics are crisp. Case is excellent overall with minor handling marks. Overall this is a very high condition outfit!
