MERRILL CARBINE 2nd MODEL CARBINE. Serial No. 12705. .54 caliber with 22 1/8 inch round blued barrel. It is in very good condition mechanically with all parts. Sight with 3 level V cuts. Percussion nipple in good condition. I have had this hanging in my family room for 50 years. I can't remember where I got it but I have never touched it since I got it. It may have been refinished as the stock and metal are in good condition. There are no visible cartouches. The bore is in very good condition with no pitting. Lock plate is marked J H MERRILL BALTO PAT JULY 1858 APL. 9 MAY 21-28-61. Top flat of breech is marked J. H. MERRILL BAL PAT. JULY 1858. Marking show wear but are readable.
