Description:
For sale is a used Winchester Model 61 chambered in 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire. The Winchester Model 61 Magnums are rare, produced between 1959-1961. This particular Model 61 was produced in 1959 according to Winchester records. Features 24-inch barrel length.
The serial number (307535) is on the underside of the barrel assembly and the frame. The Winchester proof mark is on top of the barrel and the frame. The left side of the barrel is marked “Winchester / Trade Mark / Made In U.S.A. / Model 61 / 22 Win. Mag. R. F.”
The front sight is a dovetail set beaded blade and the rear sight is a dovetail set leaf and elevator notch sight, with the elevator remaining.
This gun has minimal to no bluing and metal wear. The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is some wear to the barrel from operation of the slide. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp, raised and sharp.
The stock has original finish smooth wood, with a ribbed forearm. The wood to metal fit is very good, even proud. There is some tiny chipping at the forearm screws, and a few other small, scattered dings. The belly of the stock has a few dings, with others scattered elsewhere; nothing is severe. There is finish wear at the edges.
The LOP measures 13 1/2″ inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the checkered hard rubber Winchester recoil plate. The stock rate in about 85-90% condition.
Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent 90% condition. Gun does not include the original box.
