Colt 1911A1 US ARMY MFG 1942 .45 ACP, 5" bbl, bright shiny bore, good rifling, dovetail square notch rear sight, fixed front sight, Parkerized finish, checkered mainspring housing, lanyard loop, and checkered wood grips.
This pistol frame S/N 776366 was manufactured in 1942. Army Inspector Of Ordnance Waldemar S. Broberg, Colonel inspection stamp. The slide has a star stamp indicating it has gone back to the factory for rework and a "P" proof mark. The right side of the slide has no markings. the left side has the patent dates, the Rampant Colt logo and "COLTS PT F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD,CT,U.S.A." All parts are from the right time frame for this pistol. The barrel has correct markings/High Standard for a Colt of this year, shiny bore with no corrosion or pitting, top has been buffed removing the 45 marking. Front and rear sights are not original. The left side of the frame under the slide stop hole it is marked WB in a box, beside the magazine release button is a "P", in front of the slide release is "AA", an "X" and a "V" at the front of the trigger guard. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the serial number under, in front of the slide stop hole it is marked "M1911A1 U.S ARMY". On the trigger guard in front it has the number 69. The hammer spur is checkered as is the trigger. The magazine is not original.
