Description:
This is an excellent original example of a World War 2 Spreewerk manufactured P-38 pistol made under German occupation for the German Army. The Spreewerk factory was located in Czecholasvakia which was invaded and occupied in 1939 until the end of World War 2. While occupying Czecholasvakia the Germans kept the arms manufacturers working under their supervision, and had the Spreewerk factory produce the P-38 pistol from 1942 to 1945. This example is serial number 4628Y and was made in January of 1945. It is all matching with original finish, and all of the factory stamps and Waffenamts and clear and legible. The factory stamps have been color-filled by the previous owner. This pistol retains much of its original blue finish but does show signs of wear along the edges of the slide and frame. The bore in this P-38 is bright, with no pitting or erosion whatsoever. The rifling is still very prominent with sharp lands and grooves. The Spreewerk factory grips are free from cracks or repairs, and fit nicely to the frame. This CYQ P-38 functions 100% including the de-cocker. All of the controls work as they were designed to and the action on this pistol is smooth and locks up tight. It comes with one original "JVD" code Nazi contract magazine. If you have been looking for a super-clean CYQ P-38 for your WW2 pistol collection, this example would be a great addition.
