Description:
This is an excellent original example of a World War 2 Mauser manufactured "BYF43" P-38 pistol. This P-38 is a "BYF 43" marked gun where "BYF" is Mauser Oberndorf's wartime code and the date of manufacture is 1943. These codes were given to the manufacturers in an attempt to hide where they were being made from the Allies, thus preventing the factories from being bombed. It is all matching with original finish, and all of the factory stamps and Waffenamts and clear and legible. The factory stamps have been color-filled by the previous owner. This pistol retains much of its original blue finish but does show signs of wear along the edges of the slide and frame. The bore in this P-38 is slightly frosted with light pitting, but the rifling is still very prominent with sharp lands and grooves. The Mauser factory grips are in great condition but do show slight signs of modification on the left grip and a small amount of various handling marks. This BYF43 P-38 functions 100% including the de-cocker. All of the controls work as they were designed to and the action on this pistol is smooth and locks up tight. It comes with one original "P.38v" marked magazine. If you have been looking for a clean BYF43 P-38 for your WW2 pistol collection, this example would be a great addition.
