Description: Beautiful Colt Sauer Sporting Rifle in the very versatile 30-06.  Inludes NIB (mounted - unfired) Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4 X 20mm Scope.  Very low serial number CR1199.  First serial number was CR1001.  Manufactured in 1973.  This was part of the first block of these beautiful rifles made by J.P. Sauer & Sons in West Germany in collaboration with Colt.  This first block of rifles was made in the very popular 30-06 Springfield cartridge.  Imported by Colt. This rifle is in nearly flawless condition.  As close to 100% as you are going to find in this very collectable series. Factory bases and rings. NIB Leupold scope.  Mounted but never fired. All original stock, butt pad and grip cap (Colt's Rampant Horse). Manufactured during Colt's zenith.  A historic and truly American company.  Prior to what can be called its modern era.  This rifle is a piece of history. Non-rotating bolt action.  Perhaps the smoothest and quietest bolt action ever made. Any apparent flaws in the photos are light reflections or halos created by the deep finish.  If you want additional photos of any area in different lighting I will be happy to send them to you.  I had searched for this rifle in this early block for many years before finding this one.  When these first came out in 1973 I was 17 years old.  I thought it was the most beautiful rifle I had ever seen. Unfortunately a paper route was not enough to buy one.  I get nostalgic just holding it in my hands.  Now retired and likely moving to Spain I have to let this go. This really should be kept as a collectors item.  Few of these early Colt Sauers remain in this condition. Shipping is $35 UPS insured.
