This is a nice example of an A.McGilvray, Harrisonburg Rockingham Co VA, percussion full stock mountain rifle. The barrel is 42 inches approximatelyand it is attached to the stock with wedges. The overall length of the rifle is 57 inches. Descent bore, with visiable rifling, 45 caliber or there abouts. Double set triggers function properly, The back action lock is engraved and stamped H. Elwell Warranted. Alexandria McGilvray, 1798-1858, and he was gunsmith in Harrisonburg Rockingham Co, VA from 1812-1854
