Payment Types Accepted: Cashier's Check, Check, or USPS money order Description: This is a fine example of George Tryon a Philadelphia Pennsylvania gunsmith, 1791-1878 In early youth George W Tryon was apprenticed to a gunsmith named Getz ... and in 1811 became the partner of his employer... the firm being known as Tryon& Getz. A few months later he purchased his partner's interest and continued the business in his own name from 1811-1827 at 165 N. 2nd Street, Philadelphia. The barrel is approximately 42 1/4 inches long, with the overall length of the rifle being 57 1/2 inches long. With the top of the barrel being stamped Tryon Philada. Descent bore, between a 44 - 48ish caliber or there abouts. London Lock, single trigger functions properly. Brass engraved patchbox. Circa 1830, full maple stock, orginal flint converted to cap & ball probably by Tyron. Tyron sporting rifles are rare.
