Description:
Smith & Wesson began production of the N-frame .44 Magnum in 1955 and applied the Model 29 designation in 1957. The 29-2 came about in 1961. Pinned barrel and recessed cylinder so cartridge heads are fully enclosed. The 29-3, introduced in 1982 dropped the recessed cylinder and pinned barrel feature for cost saving. This specimen has the 6 1/2" barrel which means it was manufactured before 1979. .44 Remington Magnum
