Description:
This old New England made Gibbs & Tiffany underhammer has the eagel proof on the top strap, and the left side of the barrel has the maker name. /the top flat of the barrel has the selling agents:.E. HUTCHINGS & Co. AGENTS-BALT'O. The half round/ octagonal barrel is about 5 " long, and the exterior metal is aged patina mixed with very fine salt & pepper pits, but not significant deep pits though.. Writing on top flat of the barrel is easier to read than the left side of the barrel. Made in the 1830's to about 1850's .The nipple is flattened, and some of these went to the Gold Rush!, and the action works well with strong mainspring.The New England walnut saw handle stock has the typical age stress cracks commonly found on the saw handle pistols. Measures about 10" overall. Caliber is about .31 . Shipping may be higher than stated as shippers raise their prices twice year without notice!
