This Henry is in beautiful condition. Comes complete with a letter from the Springfield Research Service stating serial number, Issued to Company H, 3rd Veterans Volunteer Infantry, May 17 1865. It is listed by serial number in the US Martial Arms Collector Magazine issue 78. Research indicates it was issued to Jacob Henry who served in the 48th New York Infantry and enlisted at the age of 34. I believe the article is available through the US Martial Arms Collector Magazine as a back issue. The gun is great looking with the brass having turned a pale yellow. Sharp corners and functions good. The wood is in great condition with 14 stars stamped alongside the buttplate. I have seen this before and believe it is just to represent Patriotism. On the frame there is also some stars as well as one on the elevator. Barrel markings are good. Correct sights and original follower. All matching numbers. This is one of the nicest ones I have had for a long time.
