8. U.S. Pattern 1875 Pistol Cartridge Pouch (Modified) The Pattern 1875 Pistol Cartridge Pouch, modified, was originally a standard, new-condition, Civil War cap pouches converted for metallic cartridges. Basically repurposing Civil War pouches because of the abundant supply on-hand in government storage. The modifications consisted of removing the wool and inner flap. The outer flap was embossed with an oval containing the letters “US.” This was typically done over the Civil War inspector stamp. This particular pouch is in remarkable condition with nice supple leather, great shape-form with solid stitching. The belt loops are also solid with no apparent separation. Typical surface crazing with evidence of wear and aging as to be expected. Very low survival rate from use and storage. Nice “US” and ordinance inspector stamp on outer flap.
