Side Ejecting Alternative to the Winchester 1894!
Here we present an antique J.M. Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Rifle in .38-55 WCF, made in 1895 in New Haven, Connecticut. Marlin was one of Winchester’s biggest competitors for the lever action market in the late-19th and into the 20th Century. Marlin produced a large assortment of firearms such as lever-action rifles, pump-action shotguns and single shot rifles.
The Model 1893 represents Marlin’s first smokeless powder lever action rifle. It features a solid top frame with side ejection and a smooth action. The barrel is a medium weight octagonal of 26 inches, chambered for the .38-55 WCF. This rifle was one of the most popular Marlin lever-action models ever made with over one million model 1893s manufactured.
The overall condition is very good. Original blue and case colored finish/patina. The bore is bright with nice rifling. The action is excellent. The walnut stock shows use and remains solid. A very nice Model 1893 in a great medium-bore cartridge!
