Description:
This is an unissued and unfired Colt Model 1861 "Special" Model Civil War musket dated 1864 on both lock and barrel. The gun is in excellent plus condition showing no signs of field use. The metal parts are all very clean smooth as issued bright steel with the lock and hammer having the factory high gloss polished finish. All markings are sharp and crisp including two deep ifederal nspection cartouches on the left stock plane. All screws are original and none buggered, All parts are original to the musket including ramrod, sling swivels and sights. The rifled .58 caliber bore is like new, deep clean crisp rifling its entire length. Barrel date and proof stamps are perfect. Nipple and rear sight retain their original blued finish. The walnut stock is excellent with crisp sharp edges, no chips, slivers or cracks save for a few minor storage nicks and retains all of its original factory oiled finish and has not been sanded or refinished. This is an exceptional Colt manufactured Civil War longarm that would be hard to improve on condition. Minty unissued Civil War longarms are getting much harder to find so here is your chance to add this fine example to your collection.
