This gun was built for the former president of Kolar as his personal gun. He confirmed in November 2021 that this is one of five Empire (very high) Grade shotguns which feature very deep and detailed engraving and extensive gold inlay. He told me that it he would place it between the current Royale ($26,795) and Gold Royale ($28,795) engraving options. It has 32” gloss blued (upgraded) matching weight 12, 20 & 28-Gauge ramp tapered barrels. Price is for the gun with one barrel. Additional barrels may be purchased for $3,500 each if desired.
An Ultra Lite Soft Touch recoil reduction system with 4-way adjustable comb is installed in the stock. This system has a spring and shock absorber like a car suspension. When firing a shell, the gun moves back while the recoil pad and comb stay fixed against the shoulder and cheek. This greatly reduces impact on both the shoulder and the cheek. 1 1/8 1300 FPS target shells are perfectly comfortable with this system installed. I wouldn’t own a target gun without a Soft Touch installed. The stock is the formerly-standard CL right-handed sporting stock, sized for an average sized shooter. The 4 way adjustable comb will allow it to adjust to a large range of shooters. The LOP is 14.5. Drop at the front of the comb is 1.5. Drop at the rear of the comb is 1.75. Drop at the heel is 2.25. Grip length is 3 3/8 and it measures 1/8” down pitch. I can’t measure the offset, but it’s to the right, nearly parallel to the rib and typical for average sized shooters. These dimensions can be seen on wenig/dimensions-worksheet.
A Kolar factory gunsmith confirmed that this gun has the re-designed and current Stage II mechanical trigger. He also told me they have one customer who has over 3 million rounds through his and they’ve never seen one worn out. This one has about 100K shells through it, so it’s just about broken in now. The president of Kolar told me they honor a lifetime transferrable warranty on their iron parts which made me perfectly comfortable buying this second hand. When the gun was nearly new, before break-in, there was some minor galling which is visible in two photos. Kolar polished it and loosened the barrel fit a little and said it is not a problem. There is also a small sliver of metal missing from the receiver where it meets the lever. This visual defect has been there since before I owned it and is visible in the top view photo. I don't believe anyone other than me has ever noticed it. It has a lower than expected serial number (10XX). Kolar updated the barrel, trigger and stock to the Max Lite versions before I bought it from their president. The receiver design was and is still current. I have won HOA in multiple sporting clays events with this gun. It’s beautiful, accurate, functions like new and is ready to break more than 2.9 million targets! Includes five Titanium choke tubes.
