Description:
Matched Pair of Engraved John Dickson & Son Best Round Body Action shotguns in excellent condition. These shotguns, marked with "1" & "2" in gold inlay respectively, feature chopper lump barrels with single brass bead front sights, single bands at either breech with flourishes of floral scroll at the rear of the rib, London Nitro Proofs, and automatic ejectors. The casehardened, round body boxlock action display beautiful floral scroll engraving with "JOHN DICKSON 7 SON" banners on either side. Gorgeous, highly figured, multi point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings including the Anson button release and a straight grip stock with checkered horn grip buttplate. Both mechanically excellent and have few signs of use or handling marks. Minor repaired crack near the end of lower tang of gun 1. Includes a leather bound takedown case with "HON. J. G. STUART" marked on the lid, and includes cleaning rod, and nickel oiler. Gun 1 Measurements(R/L): Bore Diameter 9" from the breech, both proved at 12"(.729 inches), and measured at .733/.734; minimum wall thickness .024/.022"; 1 3/8" DAC; 2 1/8" DAH; 14 15/16" LOP Gun 2 Measurements(R/L): Bore Diameter 9" from the breech measured at .734/.736" (Proof Indistinct); minimum wall thickness .021/.022"; 1 5/16" DAC; 2 1/4" DAH; 15" LOP 12 Gauge
