Description:
This is a lightly used model 63 Winchester that chambers the 22LR Super Speed and Super X cartridge. This model is considered by many to be the finest 22 semi-automatic rifle ever designed. This example was built late in the production run, which lasted 26 years from 1933-1959, with a total of roughly 175000 guns built. The model 63 was quite expensive to produce, which ultimately drove it out of production. The last few years from 1957-1959 saw the introduction of the grooved top receiver, to facilitate scope mounting without the need to drill & tap the receiver. This gun is in remarkable condition for 63 years old. The original factory finish walnut stocks show only slight handling marks to the varnish, with no cracks or repairs, and fit proud to all the metal. The deep blue finish to the metal is quite consistent over the entire gun with slight thinning around the lower carry area of the trigger guard. There are a few very light scratches on the left side of the receiver, and on top by the groove. The 23" barrel has a mint bore, and all the script, S/N and proof marks are crystal clear. The original sight package is intact, and the original steel butt plate is in great shape as well. This example would be quite hard to improve upon.
