Description:
This is an early model 63 Winchester CARBINE built in 1933. The 20" carbine is quite difficult to find, as it was only built in the first couple years of production, from 1933 until 1935-6. Of the full run of model 63's only around 10000 of 175000 total produced were carbines. One of these in mint condition will fetch close to $3500 on today's market. This example however has been drilled and taped for a scope, with 5 holes on top of the barrel, and has nearly full coverage scroll engraving on the receiver and forend cap. The engraving is tastefully done by an expert, but the D&T job leaves something to be desired. One could install blocks and a vintage scope to make it look complete. All in all it is still a great first year model 63 with an excellent bore. The butt stock is in great condition with no cracks or repairs, and fits proud to the metal components. The forearm has a crack (pic. 4) that seems stable (repaired ?), which is not uncommon, and may be a dry fracture. She takes down and reassembles as it was designed.
