The caliber is 45/70 Govt.
There were approx. 500 of these percussion Civil War guns converted to cartridge by Boker using Daverport barrels. These were sold primarily to Civil War soldiers heading to the gold fields in the Black Hills.
The action is crisp and the bore shows some roughness.
This is a far above average specimen of this rare variation.
