An Original New York engraved Smith & Wesson 3rd. Model Russian top break revolver, .44 Russian caliber, 6 1/2 ” barrel, uncleaned patina finish, with original Ivory grips... New York style period scroll engraving on the barrel, cylinder, frame and back strap with about 70% coverage.
This revolver was produced with the "REISSUE JULY 25.1871" patent date on the rib.
The entire revolver is untouched, and shows the natural condition of 147 years , in color and appearance.
This revolver is the Third Model variation of the number 3, RUSSIAN and was manufactured in 1875.
This old hog-leg saw heavy use for a exceptionally long time, and in the roughest areas of then the American Southwest Frontier. A beautiful piece of American History.
