Description:
This Model 70 makes for a classic and robust big game rifle. It is fitted with a 3.5x10 Leupod scope on detachable rings. The bluing is all original and in perfect condition; there is only minor loss of bluing at the muzzle. The stock was refinished to a good standard with handrubbed oil, and was matched to the original color. The checkering was not altered in the refinish. Please see the images to judge for yourself. My father refinished the rifle. I can't say whether the wood was in good or poor condition before he refinished it.

If you are interested--dies, quality handloads, lots of brass and bullets can be included in the sale for another $250. 300 H&H is a less common cartridge, but has its merits. It was regarded as a good all-around choice for the larger big-game species of North America, along with all but the thick-skinned dangerous game of Africa. It also had its place in hunting literature. John “Pondoro” Taylor stated that “everything the .30-06 will do is done better by the .300 Magnum … .” The cartridge was also featured in Robert Ruark’s Uhuru as PH Brian Dermott followed up with a wounded leopard in the thick bush. It was also the cartridge that John Nosler had in hand when his bullets—I’m not sure of their brand or weight—failed on the shoulder of a mud-caked moose, resulting in the development of the now-famous Nosler Partition.
