Description:
One very nice blue wool West Point Civil War kepi with embroidered ''USMA'' over Federal Eagle in silver bullion on the front above the leather visor. The cap retains both gilt brass buttons, the left showing a bit of verdigris, and the chinstrap is separated but present and whole though a bit dry and delicate. The wool shows several areas of light and moderate mothing and the interior shows instances of light tearing and loss of the inner lining. The inside face of the crown is stamped with the ''H.V. Allien & Co. / 738 Broadway / New York'' address label in silver. H.V. Allien & Co. operated out of the 738 Broadway address from 1855-1893. Overall the cap is in good condition, yet somewhat delicate from the years but retaining all distinct features and showing only minor loss and wear. This is a rare artifact that will make for a Fabulous Display now and continue to bild value for your Heirs. Your Grandchildren will thank you I Promise Deaccessioned From The New Britain War Museum.
