SHIPPING Primarily imported by George Tennant of South Carolina, swords manufactured by Robert Mole of Birmingham were brought into the Confederate States for use by both the Army and Navy. The famous Enfield pattern cavalry saber that were imported for use by Confederate cavalrymen. The weapon measuring 36 inches overall, had a gently curved single fuller blade, a square-backed spine, and rounded pommel with steel backed checkered leather grips. The sword is completely unmarked which insured if captured they would escape the wrath of Lincoln who let Europe know helping the CSA would be considered an act of war. (President G Bush did the same 150 yrs later). This beauty has a nice full-length blade with a wonderful even patina look all over. The iron hand guard and backstrap are still present and they are tighter than your crazy uncle on New Years Eve. All of the iron parts still have that untouched smokehouse look that collectors hope for. The handle of the sword has the original pressed leather grip on each side that is as nice as you will ever find. The sword is accompanied by a complete and original metal scabbard with both mounts, rings, drag shows age but in great shape. SOLD |
