Description:
Stunning U.S. Naval Officer’s sword with fancy pewter grip and etched blade marked “Wm. Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia”. Showing dolphin on guard and eagle on top of the pommel, acorns and piercing on single branch hilt. The custom etched blade presents a stands of arms and “U.S.N” on banner, fowled anchor, stars, scrolls and Horstmann Logo on one side, The Powerful American eagle and similar motifs on reverse with iron proof at top of the spine. The blade is about excellent with frosty etching and remarkably has original polish. Etching extends 16” from hilt down blade of 28 ½” and 35” overall. The rare Original scabbard is sharkskin with the proper mounts  which are marked “48” in small die stamps. This is a Magnificent Historic sword by one of the Worlds finest and most famous retailors a beauty that is in the excellent cared for condition that Collectors are always searching for but rarely find, These type of artifacts are becoming more and more scarce as time goes by and folks are understanding it is far better to own a piece of History then losing money every hour in a bank.
