Description:
***   SOLD   ***   William Powell 12 bore 7-pin sidelock number 11067 made in 1902. Without adornment except for some intricate border engraving this business-like but handsome double is a bird hunter’s dream at just 6lb 10oz. Powell was one of Britain’s leading gunmakers and it shows in this pre-WWI gun. Double triggers, selective ejectors, automatic safety and a new set of barrels by the maker. The lock plates have a very nice patina with residual case coloring.   ***   The gun was re-barreled by the maker circa 1954 – 84. These 28" nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. The bores are shiny and the bluing is very good plus. The barrels are topped by a raised solid concave game style rib. The rib is inscribed “New Barrels by William Powell & Son 35 Carrs Lane Birmingham 4”. The right barrel is bored 0.729 with a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is also bored 0.729 and has a constriction of 0.0.11 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.032.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured English walnut. Stock dimensions are 15” over a checkered butt by 1-1/2” by 2-3/8”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   High quality maker with superb balance and feel. Great gun for grouse, woodcock, quail or clays. Twelve gauge payload with small bore weight makes this a lethal gun for the uplands.   ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license. The photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense.
